Your Driveway Takes a Beating. We Pour It to Take It.
Every car you own drives over it twice a day. Summer sun bakes it. Winter water seeps into tiny cracks, freezes, and pries them wider. In Charles County, our clay soil swells when wet and shrinks when dry, pushing slabs around from underneath. A concrete driveway here is not just a flat gray rectangle — it is a structure that has to survive all of that, year after year.
Waldorf Concrete Driveways pours concrete driveways and patios built for exactly these conditions: the right mix, the right base, the right joints, and the right finish. When concrete is done right, it is the lowest-maintenance driveway surface you can own — decades of service with little more than an occasional sealing.
Why Concrete Wins in Southern Maryland
Asphalt softens in summer heat and needs resealing every few years. Pavers shift and grow weeds between the joints. Gravel migrates everywhere. A properly poured concrete driveway stays flat, stays put, and shrugs off heat. It costs more up front than asphalt — and then it quietly outlasts it, often by a decade or more. Our concrete vs. asphalt comparison lays out the honest trade-offs.
What We Pour
Concrete Driveways
New concrete driveway installation and full driveway replacement — 4,000 PSI air-entrained concrete over a compacted gravel base, with control joints cut to manage cracking and a proper slope so water runs off instead of pooling. If your old driveway is cracked, sunken, or spalling, replacement gives you a clean start.
Concrete Patios
A concrete patio turns an unused backyard into the part of the house everyone uses — morning coffee, evening cookouts, kids playing. Plain broom-finish for a clean classic look, stamped concrete for the look of stone or brick, or exposed aggregate for texture and grip.
Repair, Resurfacing & Care
Not every driveway needs replacing. Concrete repair fixes cracks, spalls, and sunken sections when the slab is still sound. Resurfacing gives tired concrete a fresh new wearing surface. And concrete sealing every few years protects your investment from water, salt, and stains. Our repair vs. replace guide helps you decide which path fits.
Walkways, Steps & More
We also pour walkways and sidewalks, steps and stoops, handle demolition and removal of old concrete, and take on commercial flatwork for local businesses.
The Maryland Difference: What We Build For
Concrete fails for predictable reasons, and almost all of them are about what is under and inside the slab — not the surface you see. Here is what we account for on every pour:
- Freeze-thaw cycles. Water gets into concrete's tiny pores, freezes, and expands. We use air-entrained concrete — microscopic air bubbles give freezing water room to expand without cracking the slab. Non-negotiable in Maryland.
- Clay soil. Charles County clay moves with moisture. We excavate properly and compact 4 to 6 inches of gravel base so the slab sits on something stable, not on soil that swells and shrinks.
- Drainage. Every slab gets a proper slope — about a quarter inch per foot — so water sheets off instead of sitting and soaking in. Standing water is concrete's slow killer.
- Control joints. Concrete will crack; the only question is where. We cut control joints every 8 to 12 feet to give it clean, straight lines to follow instead of random spiderweb cracks.
These are the details that separate a driveway that lasts 30 years from one that looks tired in 8. When you are comparing quotes, ask every contractor about PSI, base depth, and joint spacing — the answers tell you everything. Our contractor-choosing guide lists exactly what to ask.
What Does a Concrete Driveway Cost in Waldorf?
Most residential concrete driveways in our area fall between $3,000 and $8,000 depending on size, thickness, site access, and finish — patios typically run $5,000 to $15,000. Stamped and decorative work costs more than plain broom-finish. Treat any numbers as starting points, not quotes: your written estimate after we see your property is the real number. Our full driveway cost guide breaks down what drives the price.
Proudly Serving Waldorf and Charles County
